Ensenada, Mexico

Ensenada is a coastal city in Mexico, the third-largest in Baja California. Just south of San Diego on the Baja California Peninsula, it is locally referred to as La Cenicienta del Pacífico, “The Cinderella of the Pacific”.

It’s a port city on the Pacific coast of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula. At its heart is the harbor and waterfront area with the Malecón promenade. The nearby Museum of History and the Regional Historical Museum trace the area’s people and past. Migrating gray whales visit the waters offshore. Situated on the coastline of Bahía de Todos Santos, the Port of Ensenada is an important commercial, fishing, and tourist port. The city is home to a navy base, army base, and Ensenada Airport, a military airfield.

Ensenada is backed by small mountain ranges. Proximity to the Pacific and a warm Mediterranean latitude create mild year-round weather. One of the first settlements founded in the Californias, Ensenada has emerged as a cruise ship destination, aerospace center, and a jumping-off point for Valle de Guadalupe, a local wine region.

Rosarito, Mexico

Rosarito is a resort town on the coast of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula. It’s known as a nightlife destination for U.S. visitors due to its proximity to the border. Area beaches known for strong surf include Rosarito in town, Medio Camino in the south and Baja Malibu to the north. Offshore, Rosarito Underwater Park is an artificial reef featuring the remains of Uribe 121, a former navy ship.

Rosarito often mistakenly called Rosarito Beach because of the well-known Rosarito Beach Hotel, the town of Rosarito is one part of the municipality named Playas de Rosarito (“Beaches of Rosarito”). The city is the second largest in the Tijuana metropolitan area and southern beach city of the San Diego–Tijuana international metropolitan region.

Playas de Rosarito lies on the coast of the Pacific Ocean on the North Baja California Peninsula. The city is positioned between the foothills of the Peninsular Ranges and the ocean. It maintains a relatively uniform topography and displays few variances in terrain. The climate is strongly influenced by the cold California Current and as a result, temperatures are mild throughout the year.
